A wine of unique personality, with a nose of cherry, blackcurrant and redcurrant, plus lovely toasted notes. The palate is fluid, with tannins that accompany the fruit without getting in the way. A very lovely cuvée – a testament to what Bordeaux can be! Worth decanting.
Antonin Jamois, born in 1979 and originally from Paris, was in no way predestined to become a winegrower... After studying agronomy, he left for Argentina and Brazil, then settled for 10 years in Madagascar (hence the name of the Estate!) where he worked as an aquaculturist and as a scuba diver. It is the birth of his daughter that motivates him to come back to France in 2014
Blend of Merlot and the ultra rare Castets grape, both from vines farmed organically and planted in 2001 on shallow clay-limestone soils. Antonin has been grafting his Castets onto Merlot vines since 2017. Manual harvest on the 13th and 19th of September. The two grape varieties were vinified separately, total destemming, soft maceration without any forced extraction, then matured for 12 months in barrels that have seen two to three wines, and blended before bottling. Neither fined nor filtered, and just a tiny pinch of sulphur.
