100% Tempranillo – Ribera Del Duero, Spain

Winery

The Fernández Rivera family has always been inspired by the great estates of Bordeaux. In 1987, they planted 180 hectares of Tempranillo along the Duero River in the province of Burgos, a northerly and colder part of Ribera del Duero.  In true château style, Condado de Haza was built at the heart of the vineyards, enabling a continued focus on sustainable farming practices with a special emphasis on preserving regional biodiversity.

Tasting Notes

Aromas: Quite intense aromatics revealing ripe red berry and black fruits. Liquorice notes, typical of the Tempranillo variety, also come through. Sweet, roasted coffee bean aromas follow with hints of vanilla and touches of spice.

Palate: Fleshy, silky entry on the palate with perfectly integrated acidity and very pleasant, gentle tannins. Dark fruit flavors in the finish, punctuated by blackberry. The oak is very nicely integrated, expressing notes of toast and vanilla. Medium to long finish.
